I Hurt...

Just a quick post as there is currently no interesting people-watching whilst I sit at the registration desk. I am finished on Thursday afternoon (about 5 am in Utah) and probably will not be posting again until I get back. I do have some great pictures but can't upload them where I am currently, so you'll just have to bear the anticipation.

So far...

My stomach hurts from all the food. I am loving my breakfast of fresh fruit and the most amazing cheese every morning but as for the other meals, well, let's just say that McDonald's down the street is looking better every day. We were lucky enough to find a really excellent ice cream stand just down the block from our hotel. It's in front of a Lebanese restaurant and you will have to see the display to believe it (I have pictures - which you can't see).

My feet hurt from all of the walking we've been doing every night as soon as we can leave the hotel. Last night we walked down and got on the Tube (more on that later), took that down to see the London Eye, which was really very cool. We didn't ride it because it cost nearly $80 US. We then walked. And walked. And walked. But we weren't singing like Pioneer children. It started as looking for a place to eat and ended up with us across the river, having taking copious pictures of Big Ben (!!!) and Parliament and Westminster Abbey and many other things that I've probably forgotten about. Our route was diverted as there was an incident in a local park and the police (or coppers) closed off a large section of the walkway. And my shoe broke.

My head hurts from riding the Tube. The train from the airport also made me sick but I chalked that up to staring out the window at all the beautiful scenery rushing by. Now, after taking a few trips on the London Underground, I determined the whole transportation system makes my head ache. But in good news, I decided "Mind The Gap" is my new favorite phrase.

My heart hurts from all the near attacks I've suffered while riding in taxi cabs and crossing streets. I just don't watch the traffic any more. Smart tactic, I know. And my heart also hurts because, well, I kinda miss my kids. I miss those chubby-armed hugs, butterfly kisses, the Mama Song, book-reading snuggles...I miss them. I would call home every day if it would help but after talking to them and my amazing parents on Monday, I don't think I can handle more calls as my mascara is not waterproof.

Miss me while I'm gone! And if you haven't already told me, is there anything you'd like me to bring back for you?

Have you seen European Vacation with Chevy Chase? My favorite part is when he is stuck on the roundabout and says every time he goes around: Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament. It goes on forever. When are you coming home?
