Music Monday: The Zombie Song

Music Monday again! And since it's October, I'm gonna share one of my favorite Halloween-ish songs.

Our love story,
Could be kind of gory.
Far from boring,
We'd meet at a post....apocalypse.

Yeah I'd be slowly walking,
In a group stalking.
You, you'd be the only man alive,
That I could not resist.

Then all of your friends,
they'd try to kill us,
But only because,
they'd be jealous.
That our love is deeper,
than Edward and Bella's.

Oh, if I were a zombie,
I'd never eat your brain.
I'd just want your heart,
Yeah I'd want your heart,
I just want your heart, yeah.

If I were a zombie,
I'd never eat your brain.
I'd just want your heart,
yeah I'd want your heart,
I just want your heart.
'cause I want ya.

You'd be hiding in,
A second floor apartment.
Knockin' all the stairs down,
To save your life, from the undead.

Double barrel shotgun,
Taking out the slow ones.
Then you'd see the passion,
burning in my eye.
And I'd keep my head.

Then all of your friends,
they'd try to kill us,
But only because,
they'd be jealous.
That our love is deeper,
than Edward and Bella's.

Oh, if I were a zombie,
I'd never eat your brain.
I'd just want your heart,
Yeah I'd want your heart,
I just want your heart, yeah.

If I were a zombie,
I'd never eat your brain.
I'd just want your heart,
Yeah I'd want your heart,
I just want your heart.
'cause I want ya.

And I'd try not to bite and infect you,
Because I respect you too much.
That's why I'd wait until we got married.
Oh, and our happiest days would be spent,
Picking off all your friends.
Then they'd see a love this deep won't stay buried.

If I were a zombie,
I'd never eat your brain.
I'd just want your heart,
Yeah I'd want your heart,
I just want your heart, yeah.

If I were a zombie,
I'd never eat your brain.
I'd just want your heart,
Yeah I'd want your heart,
I just want your heart.
'cause I want ya.

Music Monday: Somebody Loves You

I first heard this song in a marriage proposal staged at Home Depot and totally fell in love with it. Now I can't stop playing it at top volume.

Who’s around when the days feel long
Who’s around when you can’t be strong
Who’s around when you’re losing your mind
Who cares that you get home safe
Who knows you can’t be replaced
Who thinks that you’re one of a kind
Somebody misses you when you’re away
They wanna wake up with you everyday
Somebody wants to hear you say
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
I’m around when your head is heavy
I’m around when your hands aren’t steady
I’m around when your day’s gone all wrong
I care that you feel at home
Cause I know that you feel alone
I think you’re going to miss me when I’m gone
Somebody misses you when you’re away
They wanna wake up with you everyday
Somebody wants to hear you say
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Why don’t you come on over
Why don’t you lay me down
Does the pain feel better
When I’m around
If I am good to you
Won’t you be good to me
That’s how easy this should be
Somebody misses you when you’re away (Somebody misses you baby)
They wanna wake up with you everyday (They wanna wake up with you)
Somebody wants to hear you say (Oh they want you to say)
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you

Music Monday: On Top Of The World

I've posted Imagine Dragons before, but I just gotta share another one…

Things have been difficult lately. There's been a lot of sadness and tears. We've all struggled. After months, we are starting to feel like life is settling down. Sure, we all have our moments still, but at least the fog is fading. We've not quite to the point where we feel like we're on top of the world, but at least now we see it might just be possible to smile again.

If you love somebody
Better tell them while they’re here ’cause
They just may run away from you

You’ll never know what went well
Then again it just depends on
How long of time is left for you

I’ve had the highest mountains
I’ve had the deepest rivers
You can have it all but life keeps moving

Now take it in but don’t look down

‘Cause I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay
Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay
Take it with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I’m on top of the world.

I’ve tried to cut these corners
Try to take the easy way out
I kept on falling short of something

I coulda gave up then but
Then again I couldn’t have ’cause
I’ve traveled all this way for something

Now take it in but don’t look down

‘Cause I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay
Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay
Take it with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I’m on top of the world.

‘Cause I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay
Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay
Take it with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child

And I know it’s hard when you’re falling down
And it’s a long way up when you hit the ground
Get up now, get up, get up now.

And I know it’s hard when you’re falling down
And it’s a long way up when you hit the ground
Get up now, get up, get up now.

‘Cause I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay
Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay
Take it with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I’m on top of the world.

Music Monday: Home

This isn't exactly a new song, but it's been on my mind for the past several weeks. We've been thinking about moving…actually, we've been thinking about it for three years. But now we actually have an agent and have looked at a couple houses. This song keep going through my head as I think about where we will be this time next year. And how our lives are already so changed.

Hold on, to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave (wave) is stringing us along
Just know you're not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you're not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you're not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

MM: Radioactive

The Snowman introduced me to several new bands while staying with us. My two new favorites are Mumford & Sons and Imagine Dragons. "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons is such a fascinating song to me that I'm actually writing a short story inspired by it. The video is kinda crazy, but I gotta say that I like it!

I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flags, don my clothes
It's a revolution, I suppose
We're painted red to fit right in
Whoa

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, the sun hasn't died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive

MM: I Will Wait

I'm sick (but feeling better today) so I'm basically lying around, groaning, eating all my birthday chocolate, and listening to good music. The Snowman introduced me to Mumford & Sons. This one is definitely my favorite.

Well I came home
Like a stone
And I fell heavy into your arms
These days of dust
Which we've known
Will blow away with this new sun
But I'll kneel down wait for now
And I'll kneel down
Know my ground
And I will wait I will wait for you
And I will wait I will wait for you
So break my step
And relent
Well you forgave and I won't forget
Know what we've seen
And him with less
Now in some way shake the excess
'Cause I will wait I will wait for you
And I will wait I will wait for you
And I will wait I will wait for you
And I will wait I will wait for you
Now I'll be bold
As well as strong
And use my head alongside my heart
So tame my flesh
And fix my eyes
A tethered mind freed from the lies
And I'll kneel down
Wait for now
I'll kneel down
Know my ground
Raise my hands
Paint my spirit gold
And bow my head
Keep my heart slow
'Cause I will wait I will wait for you
And I will wait I will wait for you
And I will wait I will wait for you
And I will wait I will wait for you

Music Monday: Titanium

Maybe I'm behind the trend (big surprise there, right?), but the first I'd heard of David Guetta was from my brother showing me some teenybopper chick singing his song "Titanium." I thought the lyrics were great but her video was pretty lame. Then I noticed it was a cover. One more click and I found the original. With a much cooler video.

Gives a whole new meaning to throwing a fit.

[Sia:]
You shout it out,
But I can't hear a word you say
I'm talking loud not saying much
I'm criticized but all your bullets ricochet
You shoot me down, but I get up

[Chorus:]
I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium

[Sia:]
Cut me down
But it's you who have further to fall
Ghost town and haunted love
Raise your voice, sticks and stones may break my bones
I'm talking loud not saying much

[Chorus:]
I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
I am titanium
I am titanium

[Sia:]
Stone-hard, machine gun
Firing at the ones who run
Stone-hard those bulletproof glass

[Chorus:]
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
I am titanium

Music Monday: Missing

I like very vocal songs that tell powerful stories. I don't like screaming guitar solos and singers who feel the need to yell everything. And when I'm feeling all moody, I put on a playlist of my really sad songs. Like this one:

There isn't an official music video but I really liked the images in this one. Such a soul-rendingly sad song and Amy Lee's voice just adds that extra knife in your heart.

Try not to cry. Go eat some chocolate and you'll feel better. Or go check out the other songs featured! You might something a little more cheery.

So do you miss me?

Music Monday: Settle Down

I'm a little obsessed with Kimbra right now. She's the female on Gotye's "Somebody that I Used to Know" and I posted about another one of her songs, "Cameo Lover." She's Austrailian and quirky-just watch her dance moves! She dances like I would if I were actually cool and not a ginormous dork.

I know, the song is a little weird and the video even weirder…but just give it another listen. It really grows on you.

I've Got High Hopes, Baby

Okay, I know it isn't Music Monday but Kimbra's "Cameo Lover" has been stuck in my head for nearly an entire week. It's a little embarrassing to be standing in the check-out line at the grocery store and realize that you are miming playing a tambourine while humming this song.

So I'm going off the premise of The Ring and sharing this song with others, hoping to save myself while condemning others to their own versions of public dancing.

And Kimbra, the artist performing this song was also featured on Gotye's song "Somebody That I Used To Know" that I posted about previously. She's got another song that has equal ear worm appeal but most people find that one a little weird the first time or two, but it's a good one, too. I just might feature that one for the next Music Monday...

Music Monday: Somebody That I Used To Know

You know how you get a song stuck in your head, drum out the beat on your kitchen table, sing it in the car, and then find yourself bursting out with the chorus in the middle of the produce section at your grocery store? Or maybe that's just me…

Lately, the song I've been embarrassing my children with spontaneous performances of is Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know." Kinda reminds me of Peter Gabriel (who I always get confused with Peter Cetera) and he was popular back when I was skinny and cute so I can't help but be nostalgic for those days. Anywho…the Snowman showed me a really cool cover of Gotye's song by a band called Walk Off The Earth. Apparently they were bored one afternoon and decided to record a video with only one guitar.

Still, fascinating to watch (especially the guy on the far right).

What song gets stuck in your head?
