Music Monday: Somebody Loves You

I first heard this song in a marriage proposal staged at Home Depot and totally fell in love with it. Now I can't stop playing it at top volume.

Who’s around when the days feel long
Who’s around when you can’t be strong
Who’s around when you’re losing your mind
Who cares that you get home safe
Who knows you can’t be replaced
Who thinks that you’re one of a kind
Somebody misses you when you’re away
They wanna wake up with you everyday
Somebody wants to hear you say
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
I’m around when your head is heavy
I’m around when your hands aren’t steady
I’m around when your day’s gone all wrong
I care that you feel at home
Cause I know that you feel alone
I think you’re going to miss me when I’m gone
Somebody misses you when you’re away
They wanna wake up with you everyday
Somebody wants to hear you say
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Why don’t you come on over
Why don’t you lay me down
Does the pain feel better
When I’m around
If I am good to you
Won’t you be good to me
That’s how easy this should be
Somebody misses you when you’re away (Somebody misses you baby)
They wanna wake up with you everyday (They wanna wake up with you)
Somebody wants to hear you say (Oh they want you to say)
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you
Ooh somebody loves you

Teaser Tuesday: Underworld

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share a few “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.

I am obsessed with mythology. There are several collections of fairy tales, folklores, and myths on my bookshelf. However, I am a bit of a purest. Disney's fairy tales cause a visceral reaction (especially The Little Mermaid, but don't get me started). So I hesitate to read books by treasured authors that are inspired by myths for fear that I will have to hate them a little. But I liked Orson Scott Card's Enchantment, a retelling of Sleeping Beauty. And Meg Cabot's Abandon series, which is a modern Hades and Persephone. I've read both and was not disappointed (until like all of Tannith Lee's retellings).

Sure the main character seems flighty and kinda simple, but I love John. Even with his violent streaks.

Here's the Teaser:

"Still, that didn't explain why one of the women -- the grandmother, if her gray hair was any indication -- took one look at my face, made the sign of the cross, cried, "!Dios mio!" then passes out cold right in front of us."
- pg 97, Underworld (Abandon #2) by Meg Cabot

"He thought his love slept sweetly..."

I am a little obsessed with the book Jane Eyre. I thought of dressing up like the main character for Halloween, but it wouldn't be an obvious costume, say, like a witch, a ghost, or an alien time traveler who lives in a phone box. While reading, I will completely fixate on a scene or line - like the window seat where a young Jane hides to read a book while her cruel cousins try to find her. I would love to have a hiding place like that, but like Jane, I am sure I would be discovered.

In high school, I read that book at least once a year. During one such read through, I came across a paragraph that struck me so sharply, that I then insisted on reading it to every member of my family that was currently in the house, along with a few friends I called just for this purpose. I even wrote it down in a little quote book I kept (and still have). But I wrote down the wrong page number. When I tried to find it again, I was lost. Even re-reading the book didn't help; I just couldn't find it again. I started to think that maybe that awesome paragraph was like its own little Brigadoon…then the Internet sprouted. Even though I totally slaughtered the actual wording, the Internet still found it.

And because I love you, I will share it with you here:
"A lover finds his mistress asleep on a mossy bank; he wishes to catch a glimpse of her fair face without waking her. He steals softly over the grass, careful to make no sound; he pauses -- fancying she has stirred: he withdraws: not for worlds would he be seen. All is still: he again advances: he bends above her; a light veil rests on her features: he lifts it, bends lower; now his eyes anticipate the vision of beauty -- warm, and blooming, and lovely, in rest. How hurried was their first glance! But how they fix! How he starts! How he suddenly and vehemently clasps in both arms the form he dared not, a moment since, touch with his finger! How he calls aloud a name, and drops his burden, and gazes on it wildly! He thus grasps and cries, and gazes, because he no longer fears to waken by any sound he can utter -- by any movement he can make. He thought his love slept sweetly: he finds she is stone dead."
What lines from books are you obsessed with?
(And if you say something along the lines of "the lion fell in love with the lamb…" I will be forced to delete your comment.  Hehehehehe)

Teaser Tuesday: Delirium

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share a few “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.

While I am kinda over my dystopian addiction, I slipped up this time. But oh, was it worth it! I read Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver and noticed another book by her called Delirium, so I looked in to it. Dystopian. Where love is ruled a disease and everyone is given the cure, whether they want it or not. I didn't dive right into it but filed the title away on my TBR list. So when it surfaced again, I decided to give it a try. And then I couldn't put it down…

Here's the Teaser:
"A hollow open up in my chest. This is what life will be like without him: Everything will become ordinary again. I'll become ordinary again."
- Location 3615, Delirium by Lauren Oliver
