Cookie Exchange!

We were invited to a cookie exchange this year. Last year, we missed out on a lot of the holiday parties because we left town. This year, I'm missing out on most of them due to a previously scheduled abdominal surgery. Kinda sucks. So I was pretty happy when I saw that I would at least get to make it to the cookie party. Although one friend said she was surprised to see me there, what the the contractions and all, and my response was "Hello! Cookies! I am sooooo there!"

Since I simply do not have enough to do, I decided to have my own little bake-off (instead of doing something useful, like sorting baby clothes). None of my current cookie recipes seemed up to par so I picked two from a cookie newsletter. We'd have a taste test and the winning cookie would be presented at the exchange.

First up: Chocolate Ribbon Cookies.

I had high hopes for these guys. They were so pretty and they had chocolate. Virtually perfect! But there wasn't much of a taste (maybe I should have used the rum extract after all). More like shortbread than anything else.

Then I made Peanut Butter Munchies.

These were a little more work but have to say, the taste was great! Kinda like a brownie wrapped around peanut butter. These won unanimously. I still have a couple downstairs and I gotta say, after writing about them, they are calling my name...

What is your favorite cookie to take to an exchange?

So, I am hosting my second annual cookie exchange on Saturday. It's so fun!

In fact, I have my shopping list for it right in front of me.

And I am making those Peanut Butter Surprise cookies. I haven't made them before, so I'm glad they are delicious!

Fun! i've never actually been to a cookie exchange before-- it's not really my scene. But oddly enough, I'm going to one this weekend! Your peanut butter ones look delish!

Your so funny! They both look good to me:) I have never been to a cookie exchange!

My sparkle cookies are an old family recipe......They are very flaky not like a normal sugar cookie...and we don't ice them you just use egg whites and sparkle them with the tiny red and green sprinkles before you bake them:)

I've been thinking about doing an exchange since nothing else is happening here until we're out of town. Did anyone end up bringing cookies home or was it just a bunch of girls sitting around a table with giant glasses of milk and their bibs and game faces on? I'd be up for an all you can eat cookie buffet! Did you post the cookie recipe? I'll go back and look, because those did look good...

I like shortbread and I hate peanut butter. Any guesses on which one I would choose?

I like to exchange my chewy ginger cookies or my top secret double chocolate cookies that I add
Andes mints to for Christmas. The peanut butter ones look delish!

Rupper - Everyone brought 3 dozen cookies, then we went around with big plates, taking one or two of each kind. Whatever was left became a free-for-all. It was pretty fun!

Peanut Butter Munchies ... makes my mouth water just looking @ them.
I personally love my caramel filled chocolate cookies. You probably already know about those since it appears you've been around the recipe block.

Mmmm...looks very yummy!!! There aren't many Christmasy things around here yet! Maybe I will have to do some baking and get in the holiday spirit!

Sadly enough in my 38 years I have never been to a cookie exchange. But if I did, I would take a raspberry filled lovely, or a caramel cookie bar thing, that I love.

That sounds so fun! I have never been to an official exchange, but me and my sisters make cookies and swap sometimes

I've never been to a cookie exchange.
I would probably bring my mom's chocolate marshmallow cookies or her date pinwheel cookies.
Or at least I would bring those if I could get my mom to make them for me.
